We can’t do this all ourselves

I’m often asked by colleagues or clients about why I am so committed to the Community Acupuncture model and this image pretty much sums it up.

We provide a peaceful, non-judgemental, cellphone-free space in which the community can gather together for respite and momentary stillness. A space where we are aware of our surroundings, we are mindful of our volume and act in consideration of one another.

In an age of ever-growing isolation, social divide and socio-economic inequality, it is vital and imperative that we continue to support spaces like this. We provide an accessible way for people to reconnect with their bodies, process their respective traumas and participate in mutual aid all in the tender, vulnerable company of slumbering strangers (your fellow neighbors). And despite decreasing our hourly capacity since the pandemic, when all our chairs are full, the collective energy is still palpable and profound.

No specialized treatment techniques, breathing exercises, soundtrack or supplements can simulate this. Community Acupuncture is a return to cultural tradition and is precious. And while it is not for everyone, it is important to remember that no single treatment is suitable for everyone anyway and I always trust our work reaches enough people out there who need it.

We can’t do all this ourselves,
