At Heart & Hands, we always strive to create safe and accessible strategies that provide relief and can be easily used at home! We also are strong supporters of pro-choice, that uterus-bearing folks should have bodily autonomy and that abortion access is a fundamental right  

More recently, we have had the fortune of connecting an amazing local and country-wide organization, the Abortion Support Collective (ASC) who have been an amazing selection offerings including:

  • Direct support to folks accessing abortion care in Lekwungen Territories, including in-person accompaniment where possible
  • Virtual support to folks on so-called Vancouver Island and those located in wider BC
  • Receiving site for folks accessing abortion care in Lekwungen Territories from across Turtle Island
  • Informational support and connection to national and community resources
  • AND abortion care packages (containing menstrual pads, herbal patches, tea, mini abortion zine, etc), of which we’ve created a simple handout outlining some simple points for post-abortion acupressure for pain management and to support recovery to add to the contents. 

We recommend Community Acupuncture to address any of the mental-emotional-hormonal-spiritual ails that may arise after undergoing such an invasive and vulnerable procedure. AND to make it more accessible for new clients to try acupuncture at H&H, when you present this flyer at your 1st appointment, we will waive the $10 paperwork fee.

We hope this contribution brings some comfort and traditional wisdom to the individuals who access these services. We are grateful for the important work the ASC provides for our community and for reproductive freedoms.
