On Capitalism
Community Acupuncture ain’t sexy, at times, it is honest, thankless and NECESSARY hard work. And I cannot deny, some weeks are challenging in our current economy, collective dysregulation and state of societal unrest.
As a Community Acupuncturist, I am committed to serving a portion of our community that is often excluded and priced out of accessing complimentary, holistic health care. That is where CA shines, treating many, efficiently, effectively and affordably. Bringing the art and practice of acupuncture back to its traditional roots, as a barefoot medicine for the common people.
I dream of the day that I can just look after my community, without the looming, crushing pressure of taxes, rent and business expenses. I just want to provide a safe space for intentional, collective healing, where like-minded community members not only receive care, but are supported and encouraged to care for one another in small, tender ways. The pandemic really eroded the societal sense of our shared humanity, we need to reclaim it.
But dreams aside, I mostly just want to witness the fall of Capitalism and all of it’s oppressive, racist, exclusionary, deadly consequences. It’s a probably a long ways off, but a girl can always dream.
