Final post-reno sneak peek: Fresh windows, fresh signage & a fresh start!
After weeks of delays from our landlord’s building insurance, new glass is up and Chris and Stu of Dobell Sign Co. have been back to repaint our signage. It finally feels like our space is complete and we can start getting back to work AND our clients won’t be as confused about where they are headed.
This is an opportunity to express AGAIN our gratitude for the tidal wave of e-transfer donations from our clients and community members who responded to my initial call to action shortly after the vandalism to our big gorgeous windows on July 1st.
Due to the generosity of everyone who donated, we raised just over $4000 towards our damaged windows. This was especially timely as our landlord’s insurance would only cover the cost of window replacement, but not the cost of having our signage repainted nor preventative measures for future vandalism. And with any funds leftover, we will pursue having a bike rack installed at the front of our building!
Since 2010, I’ve been steadfastly and persistently showing up and supporting our community through my work at Heart & Hands. Knowing I’ve been paying it forward for my entire acupuncture career, I was confident that our community would have our backs and this July, they did not disappoint.
Having lived with chronic illness since my teens, I am no stranger to setbacks and I continue to master the art of transforming misfortune into opportunity. While having our windows smashed before we could even open at our new space was disappointing, the beautiful silver lining is knowing that countless folks in our community have been watching our work, acknowledging our impact and being called to support us. It is heartening to know that many people are rooting for us and are invested in our ability to thrive in the Quadra Village neighbourhood.
I’m glad we cleared the hurdle of our bumpy reopening and look forward to getting refocused and ready to serve our community again. See you in the new space, fresh windows, fresh signage and an exciting fresh start!
