My first experience with acupuncture was right here at Heart & Hands in 2013. Christina and multiple other acupuncturists through the following months warmly welcomed me to this lovely community clinic. I was healing from an injury and felt supported and cared for.
After a while I continued my healing practice by volunteering at Heart & Hands’ front desk. Like-minded people who wanted to give back to the community surrounded me and this ultimately encouraged me to be proactive in the centre and in my own life.
Why acupuncture? I had heard about the benefits for anxiety and pain management and at the time I was in major need of that. And that is exactly what I received, I felt heard and listened to which isn’t always the case in western medicine practices. As a retired practical nurse, I cannot say enough how hospitals lack in the public support and bed side manner.
Acupuncturists work with your body as a whole not just narrowing their focus towards one area but investigating the symptoms completely as well as prevention management. Heart & Hands is… A wonderful already established community centre, it has opened its heart and hands to so many people in this city and continues to do so. I am proud to say I once volunteered there and love letting people know that is the best place to get community acupuncture. The acupuncturists are informed, honest and heart-driven people.
Thank you Heart & Hands for guiding me when I didn’t even know I needed guidance.
